Toronto Duke Ellington Society Annual Fundrasing Concert.
The Toronto Duke Ellington Society holds an annual concert
to celebrate the music of Duke Ellington and his musical associates. This year
we celebrate the 125th anniversary of Duke Ellington's birth with a concert
played by Martin Loomer's Orange Devils. The Orange Devils will play music
composed or made popular by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn.
Concert to be held at the Al Green Theatre, Miles Nadal JCC.

- Martin says he is working on arrangements for the band of Ellington compositions from the late 1920s and 1930s. He is planning to feature singer Rita Di Ghent on new charts of Jump For Joy, Rocks In My Bed, and hopefully Bli-Blip, and maybe… Something To Live For. Instrumentally new numbers we’ll be playing may include Moon Over Dixie, Little Posey, Baby When You Ain’t There, and I Let A Song Go Out Of Heart.
- The band members are expected to be:
Reeds: Merlin Williams, Tom Skublics, David French, Tara Davidson
Brass: Alex Kundakcioglu, Kyle Pogline, John MacLeod, Scott Suttie, William Carn
Rhythm: Martin Loomer( Leader and arranger), Brigham Phillips, Jack McFadden, Tom Jestadt
And vocals by Rita Di Ghent

Please Note: Due to a large increase in fees for evening meetings which would heavily impact our membership dues the executive committee had agreed to switch to afternoon meetings. Meetings will commence at 1:30 p.m. and continue to 4:00 p.m. Doors to the meeting room would open for us at 1:00 p.m. A majority of those expressing an opinion on our reopening survey said that they preferred afternoon meetings.
Montgomery's Inn will provide tea and coffee during the social break at a charge of $2.00 per person
